The Post: 

An exciting opportunity has arising for an inspiring, dynamic and innovative senior nurse to undertake the role of Head of Nursing, Donor & Transport Services, for the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS).  

The post holder will provide senior level strategic professional leadership, advice and direction to the nursing workforce across SNBTS.  They will deliver strategies and national improvement projects that contribute to the SNBTS Transformation Strategy and NSS Nursing Strategy. 

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have strong strategic and professional leadership qualities, which will be evidences through a demonstrable track record of delivering continuous improvement and performance. You will require excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. You must be self-motivated, proactive with the ability to be flexible and react positively to on-going changing demands and priorities. Demonstrable evidence of ongoing professional development working within the competency’s framework is essential. 

The successful candidate should have extensive nursing experience covering a range of subject areas such as professional practice in nursing, workforce analysis and planning, education and development, and change management. 

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.

Candidates must have current NMC registration at the time of applying.

Location and Working Pattern:

The position is based in Edinburgh but is flexible, travel nationally is required at times. Hybrid working model is followed. 

Work pattern - Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
