This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
As part of the multidisciplinary team the post holder will have responsibility for assessment of care needs, evaluation of care plans, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to stroke patients. This will be mainly dealing with those patients who have had an acute stroke and who have presented to the emergency department. The role will also include attending stroke emergencies within the wider hospital; the post holders, working with the stroke consultant, will have responsibility for the management of newly diagnosed stroke patients to ensure compliance with national standards which will include patients identified for thrombectomy. The post holder has responsibility and accountability for maintaining both clinical and staff governance.
The post holder may also be required to work within the integrated stroke wards if the need arises.
