An opportunity has arisen for an innovative and enthusiastic Registered Mental Health Nurse (Band 6) to join the Wigtownshire Unscheduled Care Mental Health Nursing Team working as an integral member of the Multi Disciplinary Team.

This is an exciting post in which the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing patients within Wigtownshire in Dumfries and Galloway who present in acute mental health crisis.  The post holder will provide recommendation, advice and interventions to support people during periods of acute crisis.

The post holder will work closely with colleagues from within the Mental Health Directorate and liaise with 3rd Sector Agencies, to support and further develop the Unscheduled Care Service, patient pathway and support staff development to enhance patient recovery and ensure seamless care and treatment. 

The post holder must be able to demonstrate the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively work within a clinical team in order to support safe and effective clinical assessment for patients who access our service in NHS D&G.  Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop strong therapeutic working relationships with our partners in Health and Social Care is a vital part of this post.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with people with a mental health disorder and will hold a Registered Mental Health Nurse Qualification as demonstrated within the Personal Specification and Job Description.  Evidence of continual professional development is essential.

The post holder will also be able to demonstrate strong leadership qualities and the ability to make effective clinical decisions in often pressured situations. The team is well established and supportive, training and mentoring will be provided.

This post will cover a 7 day a week service – this post is full time however we are happy to review applicants who might wish to job share/part-time work.
