To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
About the Organisation:
National Services Scotland (NSS) is a national NHS Board operating right at the heart of NHSScotland providing invaluable support and advice at a strategic and operational level. NSS supports customers to deliver their services more efficiently and effectively and we offer shared services on a national scale using best-in-class systems and standards. Our priority is always the same – to improve the health and well-being of the people of Scotland. We do this by working in partnership with colleagues across Health and Social Care to deliver fit for purpose solutions and systems, delivering high quality services that help our stakeholders to free up resources so they can be re-invested into essential services.
The Post:
The focus of the RM improvement advisor will be to support directorates and teams to identify and progress specific realistic medicine and quality improvement projects.
The Improvement Advisor, in collaboration with the Clinical Lead for Clinical Governance, Quality Improvement and Realistic Medicine and the Associate Director of Nursing and working with the QI Delivery Group will plan and support the implementation of the principles of Value Based Healthcare (VBHC) and Realistic Medicine (RM). The post holder will deliver a quality improvement function across different parts of NSS – including clinical and non-clinical services - so as to further VBHC and RM.
The NHS NSS Quality Improvement Strategy places a priority on building and supporting improvement capability across NSS. Service excellence and sustainability are strategic Board aims, underpinned by the application of the principles of Realistic Medicine. Realistic Medicine focuses on best value health and care, shared decision making and personalised care, reduced harm, and waste, reduced unwarranted variation, better management of risk, improvement, and innovation.
These factors create a drive for continuous improvement and best value services, care and outcomes and a focus on sustainable health and care. The post holder will support potential improvement opportunities in these areas in NSS.
The Realistic Medicine Action Plan has three priorities:
1 – to work with finance colleagues on sustainability and value to align approach and efforts across NSS
2 - to raise awareness of the VBHC Strategy across NSS including at Board, EMT and senior leadership levels. Identify implications and opportunities for NSS to support delivery or the VBHC delivery plan
3 - to support directorates and teams to identify and progress specific RM/QI projects
The focus of the RM improvement advisor will be primarily to support priority 3.
