We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy Clinical Trial Service. Based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) the post holder will provide technical support to the existing portfolio clinical trials team.
The successful candidate will be dynamic and highly motivated and keen to develop their knowledge and skills within a supportive environment. You must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and have an accredited dispensary checking technician qualification (ADCT). All accredited final accuracy checking qualifications will be considered.
Your key duties will include managing the day to day workload of the clinical trials dispensary which includes dispensing and checking or oral clinical trials and supportive medication and the review and set-up of new clinical trials. You will have responsibilities for supervising and training other members of the team and wider pharmacy department. You will require the ability to work as part of a team and have good communication skills to allow confidence in interacting with all grades of staff from the multidisciplinary team as well as external Sponsors.
A varied range of commercial and non-commercial clinical trials are hosted within the NHS GG&C ranging from Phase I to Phase IV studies. Pharmacy has strong working relationships with the Research and Innovation Department and NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde which is Sponsor for a number of clinical trials. Your key duties will include managing the day to day workload of the Clinical Trials service which includes the oversight of preparation and dispensing of all investigational medicinal products to trial participants. The presentations include oral and injectable medication and novel products in development but this list is not exhaustive.
This is a full time post 37.5 hours and will be worked 5 over 7 days. Weekend and public holiday working may be required on occasion to meet service needs.
