An opportunity has arisen to join the Primary Care, Medicines Management Nurse to provide support to Care Homes, District Nurse bases, GP practices & other community settings in the roll out and sustainability of Non-Prescription ordering (NPO) across NHS Fife & Fife HSCP.
Medicines Management Support Worker (MMSWs) establish working links between care homes, district nurse bases, community hospitals, GP surgeries and many other multidisciplinary agencies such as Tissue Viability, Bowel & Bladder Service, Prescribing Support nurses etc.
The MMSW will liaise with all care homes ensuring that Non-Prescription Ordering (NPO) is the main ordering system of clinical stock to their respective homes/bases. Part of the role will also include - streamlining clinical stock, reducing variation of products, improving formulary compliance and reducing medicines waste. This will be carried out though supporting PECOS ordering, auditing stock, organising storage areas, implementing ordering processes, documenting interventions and budget awareness.
Applicants should have good interpersonal skills, be well organised, have sound knowledge of clinical stock and ordering processes such as PECOS. Applicants must have the ability to travel across various sites Fife wide and must hold either NVQ 2 in Health& Social care/ Pharmacy Services or equivalent award or relevant experience.
