12 Month Fixed Term / Secondment position
About the Organisation:
National Services Division (NSD) plans, commissions and performance manages high quality services, programmes and networks for NHS Scotland. It facilitates service change across NHS Scotland to ensure consistent, equitable provision of high quality, safe, effective, person-centred services to meet the needs of the population of Scotland.
Within NSD the National Strategic Network Teams provide networks with consistent, high quality managerial and strategic support to ensure they achieve aims and objectives agreed through national commitments supported by Scottish Government. We also facilitate links to integrate networks into operational management and local, regional and national planning structures within and beyond healthcare.
The Post:
The Assistant Programme Manager will provide support to the Programme Manager, Clinical Leads and relevant governance groups of a number of Managed Clinical Networks within the Scottish Cancer Network (SCN) to provide ongoing performance management and national improvement initiatives for a ‘Once for Scotland’ approach to cancer services. Additionally, the role will facilitate communication and collaboration with wider stakeholders.
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be highly self-motivated with demonstrable project management experience and the ability to work in complex, dynamic environments. Experience of change management, quality improvement and knowledge of the cancer landscape and networks would be highly desirable. The post requires excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to produce written work of the highest quality. The ability to work across traditional NHS Board boundaries and organisations is essential.
The successful candidate will be part of the core National Networks team within SCN, who work closely together, and a wider Network Programme team within NSD, who support each other. The post holder will also deputise for the Programme Manager as required. Engaging with stakeholders requires the post holder to be able to nurture relationships across professional, organisational and geographical boundaries.
Location and Working Pattern:
This post can be based in Glasgow or Edinburgh offices with the potential for hybrid working and an expectation for some potential travel for national meetings. We will consider flexible working arrangements so do contact us if you would like to discuss personal circumstances.
However, it should be noted that NSS is currently in the process of relocating from Meridian Court to nearby Delta House, 50 West Nile Street Glasgow G1 2NP. Your contractual location will change to Delta House from 1 September 2023.
Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
