NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to our Banff & Buchan Child Development Team based at Fraserburgh Hospital.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate. We are looking for someone who has at least two years’ experience of working with children in any setting, but an understanding of the healthcare or education systems would be an advantage. The important thing is that you must be interested in working with children to help them to achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will assist the physiotherapists by undertaking specific skilled support work to aid the rehabilitation of paediatric patients including implementing patient treatment programmes according to treatment protocols prescribed by the physiotherapist and monitoring patient progression. This will also include some Hydrotherapy and regular work from other bases including Peterhead and Turriff as well as travel to nurseries, schools and homes throughout the Banff and Buchan area and so it is important that you can drive and have access to a car.

There will also be a range of non-clinical duties including monitoring, replenishment and ordering of stock/medical supplies and other clerical responsibilities such as booking appointments, sending out routine letters and data entry. Word processing skills and adaptability in learning new software are therefore an advantage.

Previous experience of working as a healthcare support worker is not essential as support will be offered through training and through direct supervision by physiotherapists while working within a multi-disciplinary team. As an employee of the NHS, you will be able to gain significant opportunities for education, particularly through the Healthcare Support Workers Framework as well as alongside the wider NHS Grampian physiotherapy team.

Knowledge of GIRFEC is important as well as the desire to be part of a team who have children’s wellbeing at the centre of everything we do and aspire to.
