INTERNAL TO NHS AYRSHIRE AND ARRAN EMPLOYEES ONLY

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

We are looking to expand our Ultrasound team and now welcome applications from suitably qualified and experienced staff that are willing to train in this exciting modality. You will work within busy teaching hospitals providing Ultrasound Examinations in the Ultrasound Department across all sites within Ayrshire and Arran.

You will be appointed into a fixed term (12 months) B6 post and only progress to a permanent B7 Sonographer post after obtaining PgC qualification.

You should hold a relevant undergraduate degree and meet criteria for postgraduate study.

Our expectations are to start candidates at the NHS Scotland Academy in September 2023 and  further candidates in Jan 2024.  This will be for General Ultrasound in the first instance, with the potential to train in Obstetric Ultrasound.

We are also looking to take on an Obstetric ultrasound trainee.  In-house training will be provided with some attendance blocks required at university.

Hours: 37.50 but part time will be considered.

You will be required to work flexible shifts Monday to Sunday.  There is an expectation to provide cover for the ultrasound service over the public holiday periods.

Full driving licence is required as this post covers several NHS Ayrshire and Arran sites and there will be a requirement to travel.
