A rare opportunity has arisen, as the Head of Assistive Technology, to lead the Assistive Technology services within the SMART (Southeast Mobility and Rehabilitation Technology) Services. These are based at the SMART Centre, Astley Ainslie Hospital, and the Community Equipment Store, Peffermill Industrial Estate, Edinburgh.


The SMART Services provide highly specialised clinical rehabilitation technology services across the southeast of Scotland.  Candidate must have an Honours degree and a Masters level or higher postgraduate degree in in a relevant clinical/scientific discipline and be registered as a Clinical Scientist with the Health & Care Professions Council.


The postholder will lead, manage, coordinate and direct the delivery of the Assistive Technology services and provide specialist clinical scientist support to other SMART Services.  They will be accountable for compliance with the Medical Devices Regulations and related regulations, policies and quality standards in the services which are the responsibility of the postholder. They will also be responsible for the management of a small but highly specialised caseload.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
