Are you looking for a change of lifestyle surrounded by beautiful landscapes where you can unwind?   Do you want to make a difference to a small community in a stunning location? Then NHS Shetland could have the job for you.

UHA.jpgPony.jpgWe are looking for GPs to deliver healthcare in the village of Brae in the North Mainland of Shetland.  Applicants will be enthusiastic and dynamic and will revel in the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of the 2400 strong community served by Brae Health Centre.  The Brae practice uses EMIS PCS, with a Pharmacy also based in the Health Centre building.  The Primary Care Pharmacy team provide excellent support, and there are regular MDT and palliative care meetings with the wider team.

The core role includes providing medical services in a non-dispensing practice, supported by dedicated staff, which comprises GPs, ANPs, Community Link Workers, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Support Workers and the Practice Admin team.  The successful candidate will also be supported to develop their specialist interests.

The Shetland Islands are home to 23,000 people, an abundance of wonderful wildlife, breath-taking natural beauty and a thriving, forward-looking and welcoming community.  Shetland has a rich cultural heritage while also being home to dynamic creative industries and a buoyant local economy.

Among the outstanding coastal landscapes, you will find bustling communities served by exceptional facilities including highly regarded schools, eight well-equipped leisure centres and a state-of-the-art cinema and arts venue.

The North Mainland of Shetland is stunning. The area is made up of thriving communities, served by a network of community halls.  There are several small harbours, as well as boating and rowing clubs and Brae has its own leisure centre.

Shetland is an excellent place for family life, where youngsters can have the freedom to explore and have fun in a safe environment, alongside studying at one of our excellent schools.

Shetland is a fantastic place to be a GP, but don’t take our word for it.  Several medics who have already made the move explain what it is like to live and work in the isles: https://www.shetland.org/life/why/having-time-with-patients-lets-you-be-a-caring-gp
