The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday possible weekend and public holiday rota.

This is an excellent and exciting opportunity for an experienced pharmacy technician to work within the busy clinical trials pharmacy based at the New Victoria Hospital (NVH) and Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) in Glasgow. You will provide technical support to the existing clinical trials team based at NVH to deliver the clinical trials service within the Haemato-Oncology Research Portfolio. Additionally, you will be part of a team of researchers committed to improving the outcomes of stem cell transplant patients through the delivery of clinical trials at the QEUH for this group of patients.

NHS GG&C runs a varied range of commercial and non-commercial clinical trials ranging from Phase I (first in human) to Phase IV (post-marketing) within the oncology-haematology portfolio. The service runs across NVH, The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and soon the QEUH too. Pharmacy has strong working relationships with the Research and Development Department and CRUK Clinical Trials Unit. NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde are sponsor for a number of clinical trials too. A significant part of this role would be to provide input to the set-up and conduct of clinical trials to researchers and other pharmacy staff.

Your key duties will include managing the day to day workload of the clinical trials dispensary which includes dispensing and checking or oral clinical trials and supportive medication and the review and set-up of new clinical trials. You will have responsibilities for supervising and training other members of the team and wider pharmacy department. You will require the ability to work as part of a team and have good communication skills to allow confidence in interacting with all grades of staff from the multidisciplinary team as well as external Sponsors.
Candidates must be registered with, or eligible for registration with, the General Pharmaceutical Council and hold an accredited aseptic checking qualification (PACT) or dispensing checking qualification (DCT).

This is a full-time post for 37.5 hours and will be worked 5 over 7 days. Weekend and public holiday working may be required on occasion to meet service needs.
