Senior Fellow in Plastic Surgery - Microsurgery / Reconstruction

GLASGOW ROYAL INFIRMARY

A 1-year term Senior Fellowship is available from August 2023, based within the internationally renowned Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, in Scotland, where 22 consultants run 6 general anaesthetic theatres each day and provide national and regional services. This post is aimed at senior trainees from the U.K. or abroad, who have finished generic training and seek fellowship training within reconstructive microsurgery. It gives opportunity for a fellowship tailored to one of more of the following subspecialties: microsurgery in general, limb reconstruction (including sarcoma & trauma), hand surgery, brachial plexus surgery, or facial palsy.

Candidates should have obtained their CCT in Plastic Surgery, or equivalent international specialty training accreditation, at the time of commencing in post.  They should have extensive experience in Hand, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (equivalent to U.K. ST7 or above) and a clear focus upon higher-order skills acquisition.  A process exists to match training provision to the experience and sub-specialty training requirements of the successful candidate(s).

The successful candidate will be provided with targeted fellowship level training in the subspecialisation of their choice.  The successful candidate would provide limited registrar level on-call cover.
