Secondment Opportunity
Band 6 Acute Oncology Nurse, 37.5 hrs, Monday to Friday.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse to join the acute oncology team as a band 6 for a period of 6 months.
Acute Oncology is a service which provides specialist input for patients receiving Systemic Anti- Cancer Therapies (SACT) and oncological emergencies. It is supported by 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners and visiting Oncology Consultants and Specialty Doctors. Acute oncology covers all tumour groups and their treatments and therefore offers a huge learning potential for the successful applicant.
The successful applicant will have experience of working with patients with cancer and a good medical knowledge and background. They should have a desire to learn about the oncology diseases, pathways and relevant treatments. Clinical time is spent between telephone triage and inpatient review. Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Training and education will be supported to allow the successful applicant to develop within the role and this could potentially lead to the opportunity for a substantive post.
