Specialist Medical Physics Technologist (Renal)
Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hrs/wk): 1 Post.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Medical Physics Renal Technologist position within the Medical Equipment Management Service at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, to support the delivery of a medical equipment management service. Medical Physics is recruiting an experienced electronic / electro-mechanical service technicians, graduates or technicians from other industry to work within healthcare science as a medical equipment technologist, within the Medical Equipment Management Service. You will have a degree or technical HND or equivalent qualification in an electronics or medical engineering discipline, and experience of working within an electronic servicing role. We are looking for applicants who are self-motivated and able to work effectively within a team to ensure the day-to-day running of the service. Good interpersonal skills are essential, as is a flexible and methodical approach to the required tasks.
Lesser experienced candidates may be appointed at Band 6 Annex 21.
The Medical Equipment Management service has a track record of developing staff to enhance career opportunities. With a clear focus on quality and patient services, you will join an enthusiastic multidisciplinary team providing an equipment management service for a wide range of medical equipment. You will work across many clinical specialities, supporting the delivery of world class healthcare at four acute hospital sites and within the local healthcare community. This post also involves travelling and working at various hospitals and community patient`s homes located in Lothian, Fife and Borders.
You will also be required to participate in our on-call service and have a full UK driving licence. NHS Lothian serves a population of approximately 800,000 in a region covering 700 square miles, comprising the City of Edinburgh, Midlothian, East Lothian and West Lothian. It is an area of exceptional beauty and contrast, from the splendour of Edinburgh to the beauty and variety of the hills, countryside and coastline. The nearest major town outside Edinburgh is Livingston, a thriving location in the heart of West Lothian.
This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.

For trainees covered by Annex 21 where the period of training lasts for between one and four years, pay will be as follows:
- up to 12 months prior to completion of training: 75 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate;
- more than one but less than two years prior to completion of training: 70 per cent of the pay band maximum of the qualified rate.
- more than two but less than three years prior to completion of training: 65 per cent of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate.
- more than three years from completion of training: 60 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate.
