Post Title: Principal Clinical Psychologist – Gender Service
Grade: Agenda for Change Band 8A
Salary: £56,992 - £61,522 per annum (pro rata part-time hours)
Tenure: Fixed Term 12 Months
Hours: 22.5 hours
Location: Sandyford Service, 6 Sandyford Place, Glasgow G3 7NB
An exciting opportunity has arisen to provide maternity leave cover as a Principal Clinical Psychologist in the Adult Gender Service at the Sandyford specialist sexual health service.
The post holder will provide up to 0.8 whole-time equivalent input to the Gender Service and will be required to provide clinical psychology input across the service conducting highly specialist assessments and psychology consultation. The Gender Service at the Sandyford is currently undergoing service improvement to ensure access to services by reducing our wait lists. With a successful bid to the Scottish Government as part of their NHS Gender Identity Services Strategic Action Framework 2022-2024, the clinic is able to fund new service models, and increase our support to those awaiting access to the Gender Service.
The new service model will expand our current MDT to include pharmacy, psychology assistant, endocrinology, nursing and administrative posts. The Gender Service at the Sandyford provides assessments and treatments for Adults and Young People with Gender Incongruence and gender distress. It is a multi-disciplinary service tasked with assessing, offering interventions and assisting service users in finding the best solutions to their current presentations.
The Gender Service is the largest service of its kind in Scotland, the young people’s service receives referrals from across Scotland, whilst the Adult Clinic is for West of Scotland Patients in addition to Highland and 2nd opinions for Tayside
