We are looking for an experienced Senior Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join the team at The University Hospital Wishaw

The post holder will be an expert clinical practitioner responsible for providing advanced clinical skills in neonatal care. The post holder will possess advanced knowledge of the critically ill neonate thus ensuring their effective management and treatment.  They will provide direct patient management in collaboration and consultation with neonatologists. The post holder will provide, safe, effective, person-centred care. Prioritisation of workload based on clinical need, often urgent neonatal emergencies. Advanced physical assessment and complex management of critically ill neonates involving autonomous clinical decision-making. Clinically and professionally expected to make urgent and immediate medical and nursing decisions, such as complex treatment modalities and non-medical prescribing, for the establishment of cause and treatment of the critically ill neonate as part of or in collaboration with the neonatal care team. These advanced and complex decisions take place routinely on duty, including performing an advanced clinical assessment and diagnosis and the decision to follow or adjust neonatal care treatment pathways

Demands of the Job

Continuously required to make advanced autonomous and highly accurate, concise often urgent clinical decisions with constant pressure on time management. The post holder must have advanced neonatal care knowledge and skills, which requires constant theoretical and clinical updating.
