Job Advert

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

We are pleased to offer this exciting development opportunity for a pharmacist to join the Medicines Information and Clinical Pharmacy teams at Raigmore Hospital in the Highlands of Scotland. This post is split between providing a specialist clinical service rotating through a range of specialties and a clinical enquiry service at the NHS Highland Medicines Information centre.  We seek an organised pharmacist with excellent communication skills who is confident in their ability to work as part of multidisciplinary teams.

In this post, your personal and professional development will be key to achieving job satisfaction. It is expected that the post holder will develop clinical enquiry answering skills to UKMi standards and complete the national training to support this.  The clinical aspect of this post provides experience  and training in a range of clinical specialties depending on experience, profession development requirements and service needs.  Opportunities will also be available to work on quality improvement projects and participate in medicines governance groups.  The ability to work in close collaboration with senior pharmacy colleagues and develop leadership skills will be essential to drive change and quality improvement initiatives relating to pharmaceutical care in your future career.

Training and education is a priority of the pharmacy department. A post graduate clinical pharmacy and an independent prescribing qualification is desirable, but not essential. If necessary, you will be supported to work towards these qualifications whilst working in this role. The post-holder will be involved in the provision of education and training to pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals. This includes supporting junior staff undertaking the Foundation Pharmacist Training programme and hosting experiential learning placements for pharmacy undergraduates.

You must be a GPhC registered pharmacist with a Masters Degree in Pharmacy and a minimum of two years post registration experience to the level of completion of the NES Foundation Training  or equivalent relevant experience.  Candidates nearing completion of the course will be considered.

You will be required to participate in an emergency on-call rota and occasional weekend and public holiday working.

For an informal discussion relating to any aspect of this post please contact Jane Smith on 01463 704288 or alternatively via email jane.smith34@nhs.scot
