ROLE PURPOSE: 

To be responsible for providing and developing Clinical Psychology services for older people within the agreed localities of NHS Lanarkshire. To contribute to the provision and development of Clinical Psychology services for older people in other areas of NHS Lanarkshire.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing and developing Clinical Psychology services for older people within the agreed localities of NHS Lanarkshire.  You will deliver highly specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessment, formulation and intervention to older people presenting with a wide range of age related complex mental health difficulties and organic illness.

The service provides a range of therapeutic approaches (e.g., ACT, CFT, CBT, EMDR, Brief Schema Therapy), and there may be opportunities to be involved in the delivery of group therapy.  You will have the opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills and undertake further therapeutic training as required.  

You will be expected to provide supervision and teaching/training where appropriate, and to work closely with colleagues in the wider multi-disciplinary team/ local systems. There will be opportunities for service development and audit/research activity. 


KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB

Good Honours degree in psychology (2.1 or above)

Post graduate doctorate in Clinical Psychology

Registered with the Health Professions Council as a Clinical Psychologist

Post qualification training in clinical supervision accredited by a relevant training course

Post-qualification experience (or equivalent) of supervised clinical practice

Experience of working with older people

Maintenance of mandatory training requirements set by NHS Lanarkshire

A commitment to post qualification CPD according to BPS guidelines

A working knowledge of other mental health professions

A knowledge of BPS, NHS and other relevant legal and ethical guidelines

Full driving licence
