This post provides the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and supervisory experience working in the Occupational Therapy Acute Medical Team. Depending on your clinical skills and experience we will tailor your clinical  work within the specialties covered which include Acute Medical Admissions Unit, Short Stay Ward, Emergency Department, General Medical, Oncology, Haematology, Medicine for the Elderly, Respiratory, Gastrointestinal, Cardiology, Dermatology, Renal and Infectious Disease wards.

 You should have demonstrable advanced clinical skills/knowledge, from postgraduate courses/in service, as evidenced in your Continued Professional Development portfolio with comprehensive knowledge of best practice / clinical guidelines / standards across the specialities. You will have a caseload incorporating patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge, have responsibility for the supervision, education and development of junior staff, support staff and students within the speciality, provide a specialised resource to other healthcare staff/patients/carers and have an active involvement in Clinical Governance and Clinical Effectiveness and be research  informed. The department has strong links with Universities providing student placements from Scottish Universities.

This is an exciting time for a HCPC registered OT with well developed clinical and communication skills to join us as we continue to expand and develop our person centred and shared decision making model of care. This post provides the potential to enhance your knowledge and skills in a busy and fast paced environment with a focus on evidence based assessment and rehabilitation, early supported discharge, multi-professional  integrated working and continued professional development. The post holder will deliver OT interventions and develop individualised therapeutic programmes and discharge pathways to meet the needs of the patients referred to the service. The team cover a wide range of wards and clinical specialties and we will try to accommodate your area of interest where possible. Please discuss this at interview.

Allied Health Professions are moving to 7 day working and this post will require some weekend working in line with the evidence base and the strategic direction of NHS Tayside.  This is for improved patient outcomes and to maximise a person-centred equitable approach to care.  All new contracts for AHP staff will be for a 7 days service/rota to enable the service to be ready to move to a safe and effective 7 day service.
