University Hospital Monklands is looking for a Senior Assistant Technical Officer to help lead pharmacy support workers in our dispensary.
Pharmacy dispensary is a crucial operational area which provides a patient focused quality service to assure an efficient, timely and accurate supply of prescriptions to inpatients and outpatients.
The successful candidate must have great attention to detail to ensure the accurate and safe assembly of medicines to be dispensed.
Any candidate who does not hold a Scottish Vocational Qualification Level II in Pharmacy Services will be a considered as a trainee Annex 21 and as such will be paid a percentage of the top of the band.
JOB PURPOSE
- To provide patient focused quality service to assure an efficient and timely supply of pharmaceutical products.
- To undertake dispensing of inpatient and out-patient prescriptions.
- To receive , check, package and despatch pharmaceutical goods and to assess items returned for re-use
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB
- Scottish Vocational Qualification Level II
- Two years experience as an assistant technical officer/dispenser
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Able to plan, prioritise and organise workload
- Able to work under their own initiative and as part of a team.
- Commitment to CPD
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Self motivation
- Good interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate customer awareness/focus.
- Weekends and public holidays
- Willingness to contribute to the general working of the pharmacy department.
- Experience in hospital practice is desirable
