The Role

The post holder will be an autonomous clinician with experience in MSK specialty The advanced post will provide palliative and corrective treatments as part of an agreed care plan whilst liaising with other Health Care Professionals or Agencies as appropriate. Work as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team using advanced clinical assessment skills and utilising a range of diagnostic tools (e.g. Radiological and Haematological investigations ).  To act as an advice resource within own area of specialty.

What we'll need you to bring

  • Health & Care Professions Council registered with a diploma/degree in Podiatric Medicine
  • Local Analgesia Certificate Working Knowledge of Policies, Procedures and Protocols relevant to Podiatry in NHS Lanarkshire especially those that pertain to Infection Control, Decontamination  and Health and Safety
  • Extensive NHS experience working in the profession including a master's degree in the specialty or equivalent extensive experience working as an advanced clinical practitioner in the specialty.  In addition to this, the post holder should have expert knowledge and understanding of the speciality and the appropriate management of this in keeping with current best practice
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the latest developments within own specialism and profession in general
  • Attend courses and in-service training as required accepting ownership of personal professional development
  • Participate in the PDP system and CPD, keeping abreast of the latest developments and changes in procedure, with the department, organisation and profession generally
  • Be able to recognise a clinical emergency and act appropriately.  High level of personal and professional motivation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Management and Leadership development
  • Actively Lead Research projects, Audits and Clinical Trials as appropriate
  • Advanced Knowledge of Drugs and Medicaments including interactions
  • Participate/Lead in Clinical Supervision
  • Leadership skills to enable the supervision/training of less experienced Podiatrists and Podiatry Students
  • The ability to work flexibly and respond to changing needs
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology


It would be great if you also have

  • Evidence of Post-Graduate Biomechanics Training

  • Organisational and administrative skills.
  • Audit and research Knowledge 
  • Good IT skills
  • Master degree or working towards IRMER certificate
  • Steroid Injection certificate
  • Commitment to CPD

Please note this is a part-time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.


Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in the Orthopaedic ESP Service within University Hospital Wishaw.
