This is a permanent part-time post based at Beckford Lodge, Hamilton. The job description attached for the post is generic. This post-holder will be part of the Forensic Clinical Psychology Service.
An exciting development opportunity has arisen for an experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join a motivated and innovative psychology team delivering a clinical service for individuals under the care of Forensic Mental Health Service in NHS Lanarkshire. The successful applicant will support the Service Lead to oversee the delivery and governance of the psychology service. The main clinical role will be within the low-secure inpatient ward. The successful applicant will hold a caseload; provide clinical supervision to others; provide consultation and support to other professionals; embed and oversee service evaluation processes; and liaise closely with MDT colleagues to ensure high quality healthcare is delivered. The successful applicant will be able to draw upon additional training and knowledge achieved post-qualification, relevant to the service e.g. in Violence Risk Assessment; and psychological models relevant to the setting such as CBT for Psychosis, CAT and/or Schema Therapy.
As a senior clinician, the successful applicant will also deputise for the Service Lead as required and will have input into the line management of staff within the team, e.g. acting as the point of contact for team members during Service Lead’s absence during sickness, annual leave etc. They will support the Service Lead in the strategic development of the psychology service including research, teaching, training and supervision. They will also have the opportunity to be involved in the wider work of Psychological Services operating within NHS Lanarkshire.
The successful applicant will be line managed by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Lead for Forensic Clinical Psychology service and will have regular supervision and support to access continuing professional development.
Knowledge, Training and/or Experience Required For Role;
- To have a post-graduate Doctoral Level (or equivalent) degree in Clinical or Counselling or Health Psychology and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Registered Clinical or Registered Counselling or Registered Health Psychologist.
- To have significant experience in working with individuals, their family or carers, who experience complex and enduring mental health difficulties
- To have significant experience in supporting, teaching and consultation with other mental health professionals working within psychological settings
- To have proven ability to undertake formative and summative clinical assessments, and prepare reports demonstrating interpretation of findings
- Have completed recognised formal training in supervision of applied psychologists
- Have completed further courses of additional learning relevant to the clinical skills demanded by the post as identified in the Role Profile.
- To have knowledge of relevant legislation and current clinical standards/guidelines, and knowledge of relevant local, and national policies, guidelines, and standards.
- Have demonstrated the ability to work co-operatively as a member of a multi-professional/multi-agency service and within wider systems. This includes skills of consultation, liaison and negotiation.
- Have demonstrated experience of leading on projects and/or supporting senior psychologists in managing their remit within the Service.
