AP Clinical Duty Manager Job Advert

Secondment until 31st March 2024
National Post – ACC Clinical Hub

Band 7 (with unsocial hours)

Remote/virtual consultation by Advanced Practitioners in Urgent and Primary Care was introduced at pace in April 2020, as one of the responses by SAS to the emerging COVID pandemic. Since then, this model of working has proven very successful for patients and the organisation. Patients are offered the most appropriate advice, signposting or response. SAS benefits from fewer ambulance resources being sent to those for whom an alternative is safe and often allows more rapid access to the care they require. By March 2024, the Integrated Clinical Hub will interact with 13,000 patients per month in order to assess, consult and match our care to the patient’s needs.

We are seeking to recruit three forward thinking, outcome driven, improvement focused leaders with patient care, staff welfare, quality and clinical safety at the forefront of their mind, to take on the role of AP Clinical Duty Manager to assist with the alignment of the Remote Consultation process and working practice within the ACC and regions.

The AP Clinical Duty Managers will primarily be an immediate point of contact for AP’s in their time in remote consultation and advocate for the role, its people, systems and processes. This role will allow for consistency across process, live time function, and clinical outcomes with leaders who understand the detail of the role and are looking to improve colleague experience. This role will work closely with the regional management teams, regional clinical leads and Integrated Clinical Hub leadership and frontline teams to ensure colleague experience and satisfaction is as high and rewarding as possible.

The ideal candidate will possess line management experience in a critical decision-making and change management environment, preferably with significant previous experience within a clinical setting. They will possess excellent communication, leadership and influencing skills with ability to analyse data, make evidence-based decisions and deliver patient focussed performance improvement.

PLEASE NOTE – This role is a test of concept and as such is currently advertised under a Clinical Duty Manager JD. This role will have responsibility for AP’s and not CA’s as described in the existing JD and the final JD will be drafted as the benefits of this roles and its key areas of responsibility are better understood.

Reporting to the AP Clinical Hub Manager, the post will be based at one of the three ACC sites, with travel across Scotland as required.
