An exciting opportunity has arisen for a driven individual join the Institute of Neurological Sciences based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital as part of our Medical Secretary Modern Apprenticeship Pilot. The department provides a full range of professional administrative, secretarial and clerical services which support clinical staff to deliver high quality, efficient and effective patient-centred care within Acute Services, in line with local and national standards

The preferred candidate will complete a 2-year apprenticeship within the Institute of Neurological Sciences which will enable them to provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative service to a Consultant(s) and their team(s). They will act as a focal point for the provision of help and advice to staff members, patients and professionals in relation to service enquiries and co-ordinate the patient’s pathway. During the apprenticeship they will have exposure to different sub-specialties, Neurology, Neurophysiology and Neurosurgery. Additionally, to support the 2-year medical secretary apprenticeship the preferred candidate will be attending college to gain qualifications pertaining to medical terminology and specific medical administration skills.

On completion of the apprenticeship the candidate will have gained all the required training and tools to be able to successfully step into the role of Medical Secretary within the institute of Neurological Sciences.

Please note that this is a training post graded under Annex 21 Conditions* and will be paid at the Scottish Living Wage (2023/2024 rate). Trainees will be appointed at a salary of £21308.
