University Hospital Monklands is looking for an enthusiastic pharmacy technician or student technician to join our aseptic pharmacy team! The successful candidate will provide pharmaceutical technical services predominantly within our centralised aseptic unit.
This role will involve the aseptic preparation of products such as systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT), total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and biological medicines used in the treatment of patients across NHS Lanarkshire.

Job Purpose
The successful candidate will provide pharmaceutical technical services within all sections of the pharmacy department to patients attending or admitted to the hospital and will ensure the accurate, efficient and timely supply of discharge/outpatient prescriptions, pharmaceutical stock and non-stock supplies to wards and departments.
Knowledge, Training and/or Experience Required;
- National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
- SVQ Level III
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Continuing Professional Development as detailed by the General Pharmaceutical Council (mandatory requirement)
- Experience in dispensing discharge / OPD / in-patient prescriptions
- Experience in providing a ward/department stock top-up
- Ability to be trained to carry out aseptic and cytotoxic drug reconstitution / manipulations
- Participation in weekend and public holiday working

National 5 grades in Biology, Chemistry, English and Mathematics
Or
NC Applied Sciences (Must be Chemistry and Biology based)

The salary for a Band 4 is (£25,914 - £28,187) or, if appointed as a Pre-registration Pharmacy Technician, the salary will be 70% of the top of the band in year 1 and 75% in year 2 under Agenda for Change Annex 21 rules.
