A rare but exciting opportunity to join our team at University Hospital Monklands as an Assistant Service Manager.


Job Purpose.


The successful candidate will work as key member of the Management Team supporting the Service Manager, and the Management Team in the operational and performance management of the Service, including waiting times management.

The post holder will provide performance management (financial, planning and business management) support to the Service Manager, ensuring services are delivered within budget, that national and local targets are met, and that income is maximised.

They will also make recommendations to the service, and provide guidance to staff on service redesign and capacity planning for the service in line with NHS Lanarkshire’s planning and modernisation agenda and support the Chief of Medical Services in providing a full range of local transactional medical workforce support services within Monklands Hospital.


Knowledge, Training and/or Experience Required To Carry Out This Role;

  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level.

  • Management qualification or equivalent gained through experience and continuous professional development.

  • Extensive middle management experience within the NHS

  • The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative

  • Demonstrable experience of budget management and business planning
