NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

This is a fixed term post of 10 months. The shift pattern for this post is Mon-Friday 08h30-16h30.

This is a boardwide service that operates a hybrid model of working at home, across the community visiting patients and attending the base. NHSGGC has successfully obtained Scottish Government funding to develop a three year AHP Long Covid Service, which will see the development of a team of highly skilled Advanced Practice Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. In the first instance funding is confirmed for 15 months but it is anticipated this will be extended. The AHP Team will comprise 1wte band 8A AHP Team lead, 7.5wte Advanced Practice AHPs, associated HCSW (this post) and administration staff providing a GGC wide service to all General Practices within the geographical area as well as Secondary Care Services who have managed long covid patients in the absence of this team. This Health Care Support Worker posts will be of interest to people who have experience of working within a health or social care environment where the key aim is to maximise service user independence. Ideally you will have a SVQ Level III certificate (or equivalent) or higher level qualification appropriate to level of clinical work. This post requires the ability to work without direct supervision while delivering on prescribed treatment plans. Therefore an interest in supporting service users to improve their overall health and wellbeing is essential. Evidence of ability to work as a team player with good communication skills are both essential for this post. A current driving licence is essen​​​​​​​tial.
