NHS Highland are currently looking to recruit a Clinical Fellow in General Medicine and Surgery at Lorn and Isles Hospital, Oban one of NHS Highlands Rural General Hospitals. The post will be fixed term for 1 year starting August 2023. The potential for a 6-month post is also available.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain wide clinical experience: Clinical Fellows work in Medicine, Surgery and ED, sharing management of emergency/acute presentations and inpatients, alongside Consultant Physicians, Surgeons, Anaesthetists, Rural Physicians and Radiology, including overnight shifts – a rota is published weekly. Most presentations are dealt with locally, but those requiring more specialist care may be transferred to one of the Glasgow hospitals by the EMRS or road ambulance. The post of Clinical fellow does not attract training recognition from the Post graduate Dean but you will work alongside and receive similar educational experience to the other junior doctors in the hospital and gain excellent clinical experience. There are weekly hospital educational meeting and weekly Junior Doctor teaching sessions. The hospital library has a full time librarian.
Oban is a wonderful town in which to live and work – it is surrounded by beautiful scenery and is close to the Highlands and a gateway to the Western Isles. It is well served by local amenities and just over two hours’ drive from Glasgow.
Successful candidates will have full registration with the GMC and hold a license to practice.
