Centre for Sustainable Delivery, NHS Golden Jubilee (it is anticipated post holder(s) will primarily work from home).

Hours per week: various – hours will be flexible

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Senior Peer Support Workers to join the new National Diabetes CLS Onboarding Team as part of the Centre for Sustainable Delivery (CfSD) at NHS Golden Jubilee.

Do you have Type 1 diabetes or are you a parent or carer for someone with the condition? Do you have experience with a Closed Loop System? Are you passionate about making a difference in individuals' lives? Are you eager to contribute to their training and support, enabling them to embrace innovative technologies and enhance their quality of life? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

The National Closed Loop System (CLS) Onboarding Programme aims to improve the accessibility of CLS devices across Scotland. A CLS device automates insulin delivery based on real-time continuous glucose monitor (CGM) measurements.

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Senior Peer Support Workers to join our dynamic team in delivering this programme. As a Senior Peer Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting and guiding individuals with Type 1 diabetes to safely and effectively utilise a Diabetes CLS – sharing your lived experience perspective and providing peer support.

You may be part of a small pool of Senior Peer Support Workers, paid at an hourly rate. The team aims to support you with flexibility in terms of working hours to fit your schedule and availability. Senior Peer Support Workers will contribute to online group sessions facilitated by a practitioner. Your lived experience puts you in a unique position to provide reassurance, share tips and address questions and concerns about using a CLS on a day-to-day basis.

What makes this opportunity even more exciting is that previous experience supporting people with diabetes CLS technology is not essential. We believe in providing a unique opportunity for you to gain these valuable skills and experience while making a meaningful impact on the lives of our patients.

Most training and education sessions are anticipated to be delivered remotely/virtually. However, there may be occasional instances where in-person participant training is delivered in specific localities as part of the programme.

We offer a supportive and dynamic work environment where your skills will significantly improve access to diabetes CLS throughout Scotland. This role allows individuals residing anywhere in Scotland to contribute to this national initiative. While hot desk office accommodation is available at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital, we anticipate that the post holder(s) will primarily work from home. Some travel for in-person meetings and participant training will be required by the post holder(s). Consideration will be given to the post holder(s) location, and a team approach will be taken when planning activities requiring travel.

This is a 9-10 month post offering flexibility in terms of working hours and schedule.

This is a rare opportunity to engage in a high-profile area of work that requires dedicated, compassionate, and value-driven individuals who will work as part of a team to confidently assist with this national Diabetes CLS onboarding programme that will deliver measurable improvements in the health and wellbeing of people with Type 1 diabetes across all of Scotland. You will work as part of an exciting new team and will have the opportunity to develop your skills.
