POST: LAT (ST4 OR ST3 GRADE) INFECTIOUS DISEASES/GENERAL MEDICINE

BASE: QUEEN ELIZABETH UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

Available from 2nd August 2023 for 12 months within the Department of GIM/Infectious Diseases at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. You will participate in the general medical on call and cover rota, and ID work will include out-patient clinics, in-patient care and ID consults on other wards.

To practice medicine in the UK you need to hold both GMC registration and a licence to practise.

Duties of the Post

The post-holder will contribute to the provision of ID and General/Acute Medical services within the department and remainder of the hospital, and out-patient clinics in GGH. The post is intended for registrar level (post MRCP) trainees in GIM with an interest in ID.

The post holder will work under the supervision of the nominated consultants in ID/GIM, and will be responsible for supervising the clinical work of more junior trainees.

Study and Training

Study leave within the United Kingdom will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of service. For overseas study leave, application is made to the Divisions Clinical Director or Associate Medical Director.

An excellent and comprehensive medical library is sited in the hospital and includes a CD-ROM based reference search system. The post holder will be encouraged to attend and participate in the various post-graduate educational forums in the West of Scotland, the hospital itself and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

The trainee will be encouraged to participate in the teaching of medical, nursing and other health care professionals within the unit. In addition a contribution to undergraduate teaching of medical students from the University of Glasgow will be expected.

There is strong tradition within the unit of clinical and basic scientific research. Opportunities will be available to participate in the ongoing research programmes.

Participation in audit and QI within the unit is strongly encouraged.
