This post is fixed term for 12 months hours are worked 9.00am to 5.00pm

The role of the Psychology Assistant is to support clinical psychologists working in the Directorate of Forensic Mental Health with male and/or female patients suffering from serious mental disorder, including major mental illness, personality disorder and learning disabilities. Patients may be living in secure hospitals or in the community. Some may be in prison. The work involves assisting with various aspects of the clinical psychologist’s routine clinical work, for example, preparing risk assessment reports and training materials and undertaking file reviews and literature searches. The assistant psychologist will also be involved in direct patient care under close supervision.

Applicants must have a psychology degree and meet the British Psychological Society’s graduate basis for registration. Previous experience as a psychology assistant is desirable but not essential. Membership of the British Psychological Society is also desirable. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership.
