We have the opportunity to be a senior member of the Property and Support Services Department, the post holder is responsible for the operational management of the Estates Department within University Hospital Monklands.  As management of delegated specific corporate service functions such as statutory compliance, energy management, policy implementation, etc.

As a member of the management team, the post holder will provide operational leadership, including staff management and have overall responsibility for ensuring that Engineering, Building, Painting and Grounds maintenance is carried out to appropriate standards and specifications.

The post holder has responsibility for the delegated capital and backlog maintenance schemes and is responsible for the design; contract specifications and documentation management of construction and management of contractors on site and contributes to the effective delivery of the capital programme.

The post holder is the professional head of estate services within the designated area delegated by the Senior Professional Head of Estate Services and as such has the responsibility to lead and manage the effective and efficient delivery of a wide range of services through the use of in-house and contract staff as appropriate.


 KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB

  • The post holder will be educated to degree level or have numerous years experience in a technical discipline.

  • Additional specialised certificate training, 3 yearly refresher training and 1 yearly update and CPR training is required for statutory duties (HV and LV Electrical, Legionella, Sterilisers, Lifts, Mains Gas, Ventilation Systems, etc.) The post holder is nominated to undertake and which may require national registration of the nominee.

  • Management experience and knowledge of building services, engineering & construction gained in a complex building maintenance environment.

  • The post holder requires to have extensive working knowledge of the application of Health & Safety, Fire Safety & all relevant legislation within a property environment.

  • ​​​​​​​The post holder must have good interpersonal and problem solving skills.

  • Highly competent in both technical &management knowledge with the ability to compile comprehensive reports on complex issues.

  • Provide technical assistance & expertise, manage staff, contractors, budgets and manage change.

  • Highly competent in the use of computer systems & software.


A full UK/EU/EEA Driving License and access to own car is required for this post.

Successful candidate will be required to participate in on-call managers’ rota.
