Band 7 - Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
Full Time – 37.5 hours
We have a unique and exciting opportunity for an innovative and motivated Speech and Language Therapists to join our friendly Paediatric Team in Aberdeen in this specialist post.
This post includes 4 sessions working within our Hearing Support service supporting children with a primary diagnosis of hearing loss, in addition to 6 sessions working with children with a range of SLCN, across a variety of settings (community clinics, mainstream nurseries and schools).
The Hearing Support team supports pupils with hearing loss within Aberdeen School for the Deaf and provides outreach support to children and families across the city. You will have the opportunity to work as part of the small, dedicated team working with children and families, teachers, teachers of the deaf, EYPs, other health and education colleagues. You will work alongside and support a Band 6 SLT colleague in this team. You will also work within our community paediatric service alongside other SLTs supporting children with a range of SLCNs.
You will provide expert clinical advice, second opinions, assessment, intervention and management for a range of clinical presentations including hearing loss. The post holder is responsible for supervising and supporting junior colleagues working within these caseloads and there will be opportunities for you to develop and shape the service.
Applicants should have extensive experience of working with children who have complex communication difficulties including hearing loss. You should also have experience of training other professionals, and supervising junior Speech and Language Therapists.
The post is based in Aberdeen City within our well established service. You will be part of a supportive and friendly team of SLTs with wide ranging clinical skills and experience. An established supervision structure is in place for all team members.
