Are you looking for the rewards of living in a remote and rural setting and have the skills and experience to lead and deliver high quality health services for our children and young people?

The Orkney Health and Social Care Partnership is seeking to recruit a forward thinking, highly motivated individual to lead Children’s Health Services in Orkney. Applications are invited from professionally qualified and registered candidates, with a level of experience to effectively lead and develop change, whilst ensuring a strong commitment to service excellence.

The Integration Joint Board has been delivering services across the islands for over 10 years, using innovative approaches supported by the integration agenda in a remote and rural setting. The Partnership wants to build on their values-based reputation of working closely with people who use services, their carers, communities and partners in other sectors, and to develop services that are sustainable and fit for the future for Orkney.

We are looking for someone with previous experience of leading and managing staff to deliver high quality services.  The post holder will be responsible for services commissioned by the Integration Joint Board including School Nursing, Health Visiting, Paediatric Occupational Therapy, Paediatric Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy.

You will be an experienced manager confident of delivering safe and effective services, within limited resource availability, in the context of rural island provision where in-patient facilities for children and young people are provided on the mainland of Scotland, through partner boards.

Lying off the northern coast of Scotland, between John O’Groats and the Shetland Isles, Orkney is an archipelago of over 70 beautiful islands, 17 of which are inhabited. The total population is approximately 22,000 with most people living on the Mainland. The excellent ferry and air connections make travel to the Scottish mainland easy.

There is a rich archaeological history to be explored, as well as many outdoor pursuits, including diving in Scapa Flow, kayaking, walking, cycling, bird watching, and many more. Orcadian culture is rich, with music and arts and crafts well represented.

Rise to the challenge and enjoy the opportunity – Orkney is a wonderful place to live and work and offers low pollution, low crime, excellent schools, good leisure facilities, unique wildlife and amazing scenery. With views as far as the eyes can see, stunning beaches and miles-upon-miles of coastline, you’ll always find your own space in Orkney. With this, it is no surprise that Orkney has been voted the best place to live in Scotland for eight years running.

Hybrid working can be considered.
