POST OF SPECIALTY DOCTOR IN RESPIRATORY MEDICINE

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Speciality Doctor in Respiratory Medicine to work with our friendly and proactive expanding team. This post is substantive and would be suitable for someone interested in a longer term career in Respiratory Medicine. It would also be suitable for someone interested in gathering evidence to support a CESR application in the longer term. The post will include inpatient work on the Respiratory Ward, out of hours work evenings and weekends on Respiratory with cover of the Infection Unit and one General Medicine ward. There will be a Hospital at Night component and the post holder will be expected to form part of the Hospital at Night team as part of the registrar rota. This includes a rota with 2 registrars on each night covering acute admissions and medical wards on the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary site.
There will be opportunities to develop interests in respiratory sub-specialities as desired with out-patient services in Interstitial Lung Disease, Bronchiectasis, Cystic Fibrosis, Sleep Medicine and Non-invasive Ventilation and Asthma. There are opportunities to undertake Interventional Bronchoscopy with EBUS and pleural procedures including insertion of indwelling pleural catheters with training in pleural ultrasound available.
This post-holder will have an interest in supporting medical education and will be part of a regular rota for teaching 3rd year undergraduates on the respiratory ward.
