This post is based at Royal Cornhill Hospital and will involve working within General Adult Psychiatry in one of our 18 bedded inpatient wards covering patients from Aberdeenshire catchments.

Royal Cornhill Hospital is the main centre in the North East of Scotland for the care and treatment of people with severe mental health difficulties. It is also the main training centre for medical and nursing staff who work in mental health. The hospital is located close to the centre of Aberdeen and provides in-patient, community and emergency care.

You will join the Tier 1 on call rota providing Mental Health and Learning Disabilities cover in a busy hospital and associated sites, working within multi-disciplinary teams.  The workload is varied and interesting with many opportunities to extend medical experience.

This post does not have educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean and will not be recognised for training

Although this post is not recognised as training post, it can be particularly beneficial for doctors keen to develop skills in Psychiatry with a view to specialist training in future.

The post is a fulltime (standard 40 hrs) with resident out of hours commitment including nights and weekends of a 1 in 7, long days 1 in 7 shift system (New Deal Compliant). This post is Fixed Term August 2023 – December 2023.
