Flexible Location: Based throughout Scotland, NES is a remote friendly employer supporting office, remote and hybrid working. Frequent presence at the Glasgow and Edinburgh offices is a requirement of this role.

Work Pattern: Fixed-term, Full Time, 37.5 hours per week.

NES Technology Service (NTS) has created a strategic programme for the transformation of digital based services to allow NES to become a leading digital organisation in Scottish Health, digital by default and fully aligned with the Scottish Government’s technology strategies.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Deputy Director to join our highly talented and growing organisation. 

The Deputy Director for NES Technology Service (NTS) has responsibility in NES for leading the development and implementation of technical outcomes in support of NES’s strategic deliverables and NES’s agreed responsibilities, derived from the Scottish Government (SG) Digital Health & Care Strategy 2021. This technology will underpin delivery of supporting services to the health and social care workforce and all public facing health and care services in Scotland for the next 25 years.

As the Deputy Director for NES Technology Service (NTS) you will provide strategic leadership and direction, working collaboratively across multiple workstreams and liaising with stakeholders of significant influence.  
NES Technology Service impact and influence the development and delivery of technology services to improve the care and wellbeing of people in Scotland.

What We Love to See
Deputy Director of NES Technology needs to offer a broad range of skills and experience, if you can offer some or all of these, we would love you to apply: 

  • An individual who is highly experienced in providing strategic advice, leadership, and the ability to succeed within a complex landscape of Health and Social Care
  • Evidence of significant breadth and depth of clinical, managerial, and educational experience in multi-disciplinary services, together with an understanding of the Scottish policy context
  • Drive and motivation to lead NES Technology Services, deputising for the Director where necessary
  • Evidence of significant advanced specialist knowledge, expertise and experience in Technology and Information Services in leading technology innovation and improvement, together with a broad knowledge of practice in this specialist area​​​​​​
  • Experience of providing strategic level technical advice to senior stakeholders within Health in the UK and other comparable organisations
  • Experience of working at national delivery level
  • Track record of delivering innovative large-scale change and knowledge of quality improvement methodologies
  • Ability to function politically, analyse information, understand complex arguments, make judgements, reconcile competing demands and negotiate with and influence others
