The Role

We welcome applications to this post within the East Kilbride Psychological Therapies Team. This is a busy Adult Mental Health service, in an area with good commuter links to Glasgow and across the central belt. We are a dynamic team, made up of clinicians from a range of therapeutic backgrounds and have close links with Psychology Doctorate and Masters Programmes.

The core focus of the role will be upon the psychological assessment and treatment of clients referred from GPs and from wider CMHT colleagues, referred as outpatients. The post holder will be required to carry out remote (video/telephone) and face to face clinics with patients at Tier 3 and Tier 2 if required. An element of home working (carrying out remote clinics at home) will be necessary. This post may also involve consultation and training with other health/mental health professionals and supervising other staff or trainees.

Ideally the post-holder will be able to draw upon additional training relevant to the service, to a level of a working knowledge as a minimum.  This may well be one or more of the following: BFT, CBT for Psychosis, around complex trauma and issues of personality – CFT, DBT, CAT, Schema etc. We have a varied CPD programme to assist clinicians in further developing and maintaining their skills.

As a senior clinician, the post-holder may be required to undertake a role deputising for the Co-ordinator. This is likely to involve attendance at weekly referral allocation and MDT meetings with the CMHT, and representing the East Kilbride service at meetings within NHS Lanarkshire. It may also involve taking on some management responsibilities of the service during the Co-ordinators absence during sickness, leave etc.

We also welcome applications for part time hours.

Interviews are provisionally scheduled for Thursday 9th November 2023.

Informal enquiries regarding the post will be welcomed by Mhairi Williams, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, via email on Mhairi.Williams@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk
