Pre-Operative Assessment 

An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde for a Band 5 Staff Nurse with a minimum of three years post-registration experience preferably within a theatre/surgical or anaesthetic environment to join our Nurse-Led Pre-Operative Assessment [POA] within the North Sector. The post-holder will utilise a broad range of knowledge and skills in the assessment, planning and implementation of care for these patient groups.  The post-holder will be part of a team in POA where there are new and exciting developments introducing re-design within the service. You will be educated in assessing patients for anaesthesia prior to their surgery, ensuring that each patient is fully prepared and informed.  You will ensure that all relevant blood tests and other pre-surgery investigation results are available for the anaesthetist and surgeon. You will develop your knowledge and skills and will also assist in the recovery of a select group of patients. You will learn to carry out venepuncture and cannulation and recording of ECGs. Being able to manage and prioritise your own workload and work well within a team is essential.  Working hours will be flexible. It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC and that you have relevant post registration experience.
