Job Advert

An exciting opportunity has arisen as a result of service developments within Psychological Services for children and young people in NHS Forth Valley.  The service currently employs 2.0WTE Consultant Clinical Psychologists and we are seeking to recruit a further Consultant Clinical Psychologist who will lead on the expansion of our Paediatric/Physical Health aligned sub-specialities. This will include existing sub-speciality teams, including medical paediatrics and establishing new sub-specialties, such as infant mental health and CAMHS liaison.

The Consultants within the service are supported operationally and strategically by a Head of Psychological Specialities (band 8d) and team leaders for each of the psychological sub-specialities (band 8b).

We are seeking a candidate that is passionate about evidence based, person centred and collaborative practice, as well as the governance and management of both psychological care and a psychological workforce.

NHS Forth Valley Psychological Services for children and young people are a multi-professional service. We work in both inpatient and community settings and have close links with paediatric services, mental health services and partner agencies. We support children and young people aged from 0 to 18 years and their carers/families, and offer a range of highly specialist psychological assessments and interventions, which often includes multi-agency work.  We offer multiple therapeutic modalities including: CBT, IPT, FBT, Systemic Family Therapy, EMDR, Art Therapy and ACT, which are professionally governed by Psychological Services in NHS Forth Valley.

This post is a great opportunity to be part of a developing and expanding Psychological Therapies team with a passion for placing the needs of children and young people and their carers at the centre of the care we deliver. As a member of the management team, the post holder will contribute to strategic developments within Psychological Services locally and they will hold an operational management role in relation to Psychological Services staff.

NHS Forth Valley Psychological Services staff receive regular clinical supervision and robust and supportive line management and job planning. As part of job planning, all staff are supported to identify an area of specialist clinical interest or expertise and members of the management team undertake specific induction (including training or CPD in leadership, quality improvement, operational responsibilities and project management) upon appointment. As part of a wider department of Psychological Services, there are also ample opportunities for networking with psychology colleagues in different specialities, including attendance at the Psychological Services Management Group, away days, service wide project work, reflective practice groups and mentoring. We also have a varied in-house programme of clinical CPD and we have very good links with national bodies and close links with training courses.

Candidates must have a Post Graduate Doctoral level (or equivalent) degree in Clinical Psychology, be registered with the HCPC and have substantial experience of working with children and young people in specialist services. In addition, experience or training in relation to working with children in physical health settings would be advantageous and knowledge and skills in relation to leadership and organisational change would be beneficial.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.  More information on this scheme can be found at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk
