Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership extends over 6,700 square kilometres with 23 inhabited islands and around 17% of the population lives on islands and with a coastline of more than 3,000km almost 80% of the population lives within one kilometre of the sea. There are 33 GP practices in Argyll and Bute with a registered patient population of 88,657 as at 1st of April 2018

As part of the Primary Care Modernisation Programme we continue to develop the Primary Care Mental Health Service and are working to closely align with General Practice in Argyll and Bute HSCP.

The opportunity for a Registered Mental Health Nurse post in the Oban, Lorn & Isles area is available. Enthusiastic, confident & experienced individuals with an interest in working in this field are invited to apply.

The main aim of the Primary Care Mental Health Team is to increase access to evidenced based psychological therapies supporting common mental health conditions with improved patient outcomes.  The post holder will be providing and supervising assessment, risk management, and the delivery of psychological interventions with individuals who present with mild to moderate mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and adjustment disorder, using strength based recovery focused approach that involves the patient as a partner in their treatment planning.  The post holder is required to undertake duties without direct supervision as well as supporting and supervising work undertaken by others.

The post holder is required to hold relevant post-registration qualification i.e. BA, BSc, Diploma in Mental Health Nursing, excellent communication skills and an ability to work as part of a Multi-disciplinary team. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a mental health setting, preferably Primary Care Mental or Community Mental Health setting is desirable as well as a positive attitude to people with mental health problems. You will be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and have continued to develop your clinical skills, especially for working with mild to moderate mental health issues and using low intensity psychological therapies such as Behavioural Activation, CBT based interventions and psychoeducation in 1-to-1 sessions and group settings. ​​​​​​​

Computer literacy and driving licence essential. 

Training, support and supervision will be provided.
