NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
Older People and Stroke Services are advertising these posts to allow all of our wards within the Queen Elizabeth University, Gartnavel General Hospital and the New Victoria Hospital to have a 3rd Deputy Charge nurse. This will allow for either a Band 7 or Band 6 within the nursing team to be on 7 days a week over 24 hours.
These posts will have a significant impact in improving quality and safety of the care for our patients within the service. By supporting this new model we will also be in a better position to support more junior nurses and promote an environment where teaching can be a focus. These posts will be vital in demonstrating excellent role models and installing the foundations of great leadership.
The team are excited about enhancing our senior nurses within the service and expanding the team to strive for high standards of patient centered care and investing in our staff. You will ensure appropriate learning opportunities are met for all staff, encouraging best practice to deliver a high quality of patient care at all times in line with the CAS standards framework. You will be responsible to the Senior Charge Nurse for clinical guidance & professional management and will deputise for the SCN as required. You will demonstrate excellent leadership, confident communication and effective organisational skills. Evidence of personal development will be expected with a willingness to contribute to education.
A good understanding and knowledge of policy, procedures and national targets will be required to support the team. You will possess experience at band 5 level within a relevant setting and demonstrate a high level of IT skills. It is essential that you are currently a experience with relevant managerial and clinical experience
