What you will do:
- To deliver a highly specialised clinical pharmacy service to a broad range of inpatient groups within the General Practice setting.
- Provide expert direct clinical care management to an agreed defined population in the most appropriate environment; whether in the community, on the telephone, in general practice, community hospitals, outpatient or domiciliary setting.
- To undertake advanced level assessment in order to address undifferentiated mental and physical illness and injury by using expert knowledge and clinical judgement to diagnose, initiate interventions and refer or follow up arrangements as appropriate.
- Optimise medicines prescribing in individual patients to ensure safe, cost-effective and clinically efficacious medicines use.
- To support and facilitate the delivery of strategic and operational prescribing priorities within assigned GP practices and localities.
- Represent NHS Ayrshire &Arran (A&A) on Area Drug and Therapeutic Committees/ Managed Clinical networks/ Information technology groups and actively participate in the strategic agenda for these groups. May involve representing NHS A&A at regional and National meetings.
- Provision of professional and clinical specialised prescribing advice to primary care practitioners within the HSCP as required.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
- Masters of Pharmacy Degree (or equivalent).
- Postgraduate Qualification in Prescribing or Clinical Pharmacy (or demonstrable expert knowledge to that level).
- Independent prescriber
- Clinical & consultation skills training or willing to complete
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- ACE course or willing to complete
- Communication and presentational skills.
- Analysis of prescribing information.
- Involvement in Education and Training of Healthcare professionals.
- Required to demonstrate an expert level of clinical pharmacy knowledge, skills, clinical reasoning, decision making and judgement.
- Computer literate with knowledge of information technology.
- Knowledge of NHS Scotland.

Hours:
37.5 hours per week
Driving Licence/Car Ownership:
Car licence and access to a vehicle is essential to this role.
