This is a great opportunity to join our dynamic, integrated dietetic department. We provide a range of specialist clinical dietetic services in Acute Services, Primary Care and the Community, for children and adults. We also have good links with Health Promotion.
We are looking for an experienced Paediatric Dietitian with excellent clinical, organisational, communication and people skills to cover a range of paediatric services including the inpatient children’s’ ward, medical clinic cover and dietetic clinics in hospitals and community clinics. Workload will include common infant feeding problems, suspected cows’ milk protein allergy and some multiple food allergies, general paediatric referrals, HEF, common GI conditions.
We will also consider applications from Band 5 Dietitians with an interest or experience in Paediatrics, who would be willing to work in the team, learn new skills and take on a paediatric caseload with support, supervision, and training.
Please note that this is a temporary post. However, another permanent Band 6 post will be advertised before November 2023.
Dietetic cover may be required, during periods of staff absences e.g., annual leave. A driving licence is essential. You will be joining a well-established, experienced, friendly, and supportive team of 9 Dietitians within the Infant Nutrition, CYP & Paediatrics Team. This is a Fife wide service to infants, children, and young people. The team covers a range of services including paediatric specialist teams, primary care staff (GP’s, health visitors and other community staff). Dietetic and multi-disciplinary clinics are held in Victoria Hospital, Queen Margaret Hospital, and various community clinics, with telephone, NEAR ME and face to face facilities.
Excellent team working and time management skills are required, along with the ability to work with the Clinical Lead Dietitian to agreed deadlines. You will be supported by and work closely with the Clinical Lead Dietitian and Band 7 Dietitians within the team. Registered with HCPC, you will have the skills, competencies, and experience appropriate for the post.
The Nutrition & Clinical Dietetic Service
This is a Fife-wide service, with a leadership structure arranged around clinical teams. These are Acute, Adult Weight Management & Child Healthy Weight, Diabetes, Mental Health & Learning, Disabilities, Nutritional Support, Older People, Infant Nutrition, CYP & Paediatrics. We work collaboratively with the Dietitian and Nutritionists in the Health Promotion Food & Health Teams. We have a range of services using dietetic led models of care and non-medical prescribing Dietitians.
The Dietetic Service provides undergraduate and graduate Dietetic student training for B & C placements. All staff participate in delivery and organisation of the programmes. The Department arranges regular postgraduate training sessions and supports staff in their continuing professional development. The Service has good administration and IT support, social media and online resources.
