This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced clinical educator with excellent experience in the delivery of education for medical students to join the thriving and successful team of healthcare educators in the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition (SMMSM) at the University of Aberdeen as Deputy Lead for the MBChB Programme (Clinical). In this role they will join the MBChB senior executive team, consisting of the MBChB Lead, Deputy Lead of the MBChB (Early Years), the Director of Teaching in Highland, this post and the IEHMS Curriculum Manager. This is a full-time post but a substantial part time appointment may be possible. It is expected that 50% of the working week would be focused in the academic aspects of this role.
The successful candidate will be an inspirational clinical educator. The MBChB programme executive team has overall responsibility for the curriculum and its ongoing development and delivery, governance and quality assurance, outreach and recruitment. This post will contribute to all the leadership activities associated with the programme but will have particular responsibility for the clinical experience and all related processes and activities. In addition, the post holder will support the wider delivery of clinical education other programmes in SMMSN.
The postholder will be based at Foresterhill in Aberdeen, the second largest single site medical complex in Europe, adjacent to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Emergency Care Centre, Maternity and Children’s hospitals and containing a wealth of academic and other clinical buildings.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Clinical scale for Academics below level of Consultant, £60,983 - £86,266 per annum, pro rata, and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
Successful candidates who are already at Consultant level will be appointed on the salary scale for staff holding honorary consultant contracts, £91,474 - £121,548 per annum, pro rata, and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
