The shift pattern for this position is Monday to Friday.

Main duties and responsibility:  Part Time and Job Share may be considered.

A Clinical Nurse Specialist is a registered nurse who has acquired additional specialist knowledge and experience. As well as having completed, or demonstrated the ability to complete, a primary degree they will have the skills and competencies required to manage a caseload within agreed boundaries and protocols in line with clinical governance. Entwined around this clinical core are ties of consultancy, teaching, management and research and its application.

It is recognized that this may be achieved either directly through personal contact with the patient or indirectly through a combination or focus on one of the following: leadership, facilitation, teaching and research / audit. He/She will support the SCN in delivering high standards of care to a defined patient group in hospital and as an outreach service in the community.

Work within the nursing and multi-professional team to ensure a high standard of care to a defined patient group. He/she will develop the clinical excellence necessary to competently perform the necessary technical/invasive/physical aspects of care for this defined patient group Plastic surgery is part of Regional Services Directorate and within Greater Glasgow and Clyde .It provides specialist services to the West of Scotland population of around 2.5 million.

Plastic surgery deals with many aspects of surgery including cancer, trauma and congenital deformities and degenerative conditions. The unit is based within Glasgow royal Infirmary Hospital and in addition out-patients services also include sites within the West of Scotland. There is close links with orthopaedics surgery, general surgery, dermatology and oncology.
