Applicants are invited to apply for a consultant post with NHS Grampian in combined Obstetrics and Gyanecology The post will be primarily based at Dr Gray’s Hospital (DGH), Elgin and will contribute to acute obstetric at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital (AMH).

The successful candidate will join a strong team of 26 consultant Obstetricians, Gynecologists in NHS Grampian.

DGH is NHS Grampian’s district general hospital serving the people of Moray. It prides itself on delivering essential services and advocating for patients to be safely cared for close to home.

AMH is the designated tertiary referral unit for the North East of Scotland and provides a full range of obstetric services, while ARI provides gynecological services. The unit has responsibility for approximately 6000 deliveries and 9000 Gynaecology admissions per annum.

The plan for DGH is the implementation of model 6, which is a fully functional Obstetric unit by 2026. The post holder will be working in Aberdeen Maternity Hospital for Acute Obstetrics, until Model 6 at DGH is achieved.  You will also work in close collaboration with NHS Highlands in a networked model adopted by both the Health Boards as part of the transition towards the fully established Model 6 service is in place.

You will be fully supported by a thriving and friendly department and will be encouraged to take forward service and academic development.

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.  Alternatively, applicants should possess a CESR / CESR (CP).   

Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made.  Whilst in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be made.
