COME & WORK WITH US IN PATHOLOGY…...A PERFECT LOCATION AT THE GATEWAY TO THE HIGHLANDS, BUT CLOSE TO THE CENTRAL BELT OF SCOTLAND!

Applications are invited for ONE full time (10PA) consultant pathology post based in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.

Known as “the City of Discovery” for its track record in biomedical research, the New York Times has also called Dundee “Scotland’s coolest city” for its culture and spectacular riverside V&A design museum. With a wealth of amenities and relatively low cost of property, Dundee and the surrounding countryside of Tayside is a fantastic place to choose to live, work, or raise a family.

An interest in breast and gynaecological pathology is sought. A contribution to cytopathology is desirable but not essential. Involvement in autopsy pathology can be accommodated for those qualified. Other additional interests will be considered.

Discussion prior to application iswelcome. Further training towards a gradual assumption of a subspecialty focus would be supported for the right candidate. Flexible working is supported, and EPAs available by negotiation. Applicants wishing to work part time are encouraged to apply.

We are a collegiate team of 15 consultants and up to 9 specialist trainees. There is significant support for trimming from biomedical scientists. We have supportive modernising leadership with development activity that includes digital pathology, BMS role-extension, and working to develop a dedicated molecular pathology service.

Ranked 1st in the UK for medicine in the Complete University Guide 2021 and the Guardian University Guide 2021, the University of Dundee Medical School is integrated into the Ninewells Hospitals campus and has an international reputation for excellence in teaching and high impact clinical research that places it amongst the best places in the world to study and to practice medicine.

Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required. For more information (visit www.gmc-uk.org). If you have trained in the UK you should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview. Alternatively, you should possess a CESR/CESR (CP) or be within 6 months of CESR.

If you have appropriate specialist training and experience but are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register you may be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) to support achievement of CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the appropriate Specialist Register.

The interviews will be held on 26 October 2023.
