As the country recovers from the pandemic the Quality Assurance Directorate of Healthcare Improvement Scotland has interesting and exciting opportunities for enthusiastic and positive healthcare professionals to lead, manage and deliver a portfolio of inspections which meet legislative, statutory and national requirements for delivery of care and services to the people of Scotland. Opportunities currently exist within our:

  • NHS inspection programmes
  • Joint inspection of services for adults programme*.

As an experienced healthcare professional or inspector, with experience of working at a senior level you will be part of multidisciplinary and/or multiagency teams which are making care better through inspection in a range of settings across Scotland including NHS acute and community hospitals, health boards and health & social care partnerships with a focus on improved outcomes for people experiencing care. 

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent with a masters’ level qualification   or equivalent experience in a relevant subject (eg. Community or acute nursing, infection control, care for older people, midwifery, mental health) and continue to hold a professional registration.

Essential to the role is the evidence of senior leadership and management experience and of making difficult decisions in demanding environments and being accountable for those decisions.

Regular travel throughout Scotland will be required (including overnight stays).
